Review by hotel critic
When my family and I decided on a getaway, we stumbled upon the House on the Hill, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. Nestled above Richmond, the residential road added a unique charm that resonated with us. The lovely hosts, Mark and Nicky, were incredibly welcoming, coordinating our check-in and ensuring my mobility concerns were addressed from the start. The kids appreciated the garden space, which served as a perfect playground after a day exploring Lightwater Valley Theme Park nearby. We spent quality time enjoying picnics surrounded by nature, which they thoroughly loved! Our private area in the B&B made it feel like a home away from home—somewhere we could unwind and play games together in the sitting area after an active day. Breakfast every morning was a highlight too. The kids devoured the pancakes while we enjoyed fresh local produce, fueling us for more adventures. Mark even made us feel at ease when suggesting nearby eateries for dinner—he shared tips with genuine enthusiasm. Our stay at House on the Hill was enjoyable, and the thoughtful amenities made it family-friendly. We left with memories that surely make this place a repeat destination for us.
